About Us
ROSTERS
Rosters for each team will be submitted to the league office by June 1st. The league office will verify and distribute the rosters league wide. Changes to active roster must be sent to league office and opposing team at least 48hrs before player participates in any league games.
Players which have had played “professionally” must not be under contract. Former pro-players wishing to participate in league less than 1 year from pro status must inform the commission board, the board will hand down a decision of player’s eligibility within 1 week.
Players eligible for participation in league games must have NCAA remaining eligibility or players up to the league age of 28. The cut-off for players 29th birthday for a league age is July 10.
All-Star selection will be determined by each individual team. Team’s selections will be forwarded to league office for publication and sent to players’ college coach for recognition. Only collegiate players are eligible for All-Star selection.
Players must have played in a minimum of 3 games prior to July 15th to be eligible for league play-offs.
Players will not be allowed to “switch team” unless released by current team. Player wishing to switch teams must inform league office prior to doing so. Commission Board will review and decide on case per case basis.
NBC contract (or equivilent) must be signed and turned into league office by June 1st (or 48hrs prior to game participation.
Teams are prohibited from signing players suspended or expelled from league due to disciplinary actions with out written permission from the Commission Board.
GAME EQUIPMENT
The official ball will be determined by the directors, and be purchased through the league office (an alternate list of acceptable balls will be issued before the start of the season).
Wood bats or a wood type composite must be used for all games.
UMPIRES
A list of local umpires should be submitted for approval to the league office. Evaluation sheets will be provided for submission to the league office within 24 hours of the completion of each game. Umpires must be in NCAA type uniforms. Umpires should have collegiate experiance. There must be a least two, and, the home team will pay them (arrangements for splitting umpire fees must be made during scheduling and an email of the agreement sent to the league office).
PLAYER CONDUCT
Players must understand that the league depends upon parents being able to bring their children to an event that provides a wholesome atmosphere. Fits of anger, the throwing of bats or helmets or profanity that reaches the stands will not be tolerated. It is the responsibility of the team’s management to police any such activity. Offending players should be immediately removed from the game.
It is furthered required by the league that players who are guilty of miss conduct off the field that brings a negative influence of his team or the league will be immediately sent home. Teams are to notify the league of any violation of the code of conduct within 24 hrs. Disciplinary actions will be determined by the league and could result in suspension or expulsion of player.
DICIPLINARY ACTION
Players and teams which violate the league code of conduct can face disciplinary action resulting in suspension, fine or expulsion from league. All cases will be reviewed and decided by the commission board. Fines can be implemented for violating any of the PWBL By-Laws. The commission board has the right to reject league membership prior to start of season.
Fines will be a minimum of $50 and a Max of $100 depending on the seriousness of the Violation.
Teams can state their case to the Commission Board. The Board will review the case and has final decision. Payment of fine will be due to league office within 10 business days of Commissions decision.
Refusal to pay the fine may result in expulsion from the league.
If the offending team wins the end of season prize money and debt is owed to the league office due to non payment of fines or league fees, they will be deducted from the prize money before team is rewarded.
TEAM REQUIREMENTS
Team must have active website with a current roster, stats & schedule. The team must update website weekly. Teams are required to send in weekly stats to PWBL’s league office.
We are trying to provide a professional atmosphere, last minute game cancelations or showing up with “9” players are prohibited. If for some reason a team cannot make a scheduled game, they must notify the opposing team at least 2 weeks prior to scheduled game. Possible fines and disciplinary action may be leveled against violating team. Commission Board to review and decide case.
Teams must have a minimum of 18 players on the roster, and a minimum of 12 suited up for each league game.
Teams will also do their best to actively promote the PWBL. A PWBL logo should be actively displayed on their website. The survival and growth of the PWBL is determined on its members providing quality baseball and community interaction.
LEAGUE REQUIREMENTS
The PWBL will keep the league website updated weekly and send league stats to the NBC National Office on a weekly basis.
The website will contain links to each league member’s site.
The PWBL will help with recruitment of collegiate players.
The PWBL will spend league funds based on member input to further the reach and quality of the PWBL.
Protested games, Fines and disciplinary action will be filed with the League Office for review by the Commission Board and the Head Umpire.
GAME PROCEDURE
The home team will determine game time. Travel may influence times and the home team should offer consideration for convenience of travel.
Pre-game schedule will allow the visiting team a 30-minute opportunity to hit scheduled 90 minutes before game time. Both teams should present a pre-game infield/outfield exhibition in an effort to present a more meaningful experience for professional scouts. In the event a team wishes not to have pre-game hitting, the home team should be notified 24 hours in advance.
Teams are required to wear uniform that are the same in all respects. Hats and shirts should all be the same. Base coaches must be in place by the start of the inning and must be in uniform. A different team “coaches” shirt is permitted as long as the color and logo match the players.
The games will be played under current NCAA rules.
Game time rosters will be provided to the umpires at home plate 10 minutes before the game. Non-participating players may be in the stands but must be out of uniform. A non-roster catcher may participate in the bullpen Uniformed players are not permitted in the spectator area. Teams current roster should be provided to the home team at the beginning of the season and updated, if necessary, 48 hours before the game.
Double headers will contain at least (2) 7 inning games or (1) 9 inning & (1) 7 inning game. This will be determined by scheduling coaches or the Home team.
